Job summary

Penn Medicine in Lancaster, PA is seeking a part-time Emergency Department Technician (0.6 FTE, 24 hours/week) to support the ED team under RN supervision in delivering patient care.

The role includes preparing patients for exams, assisting with procedures, maintaining infection control, stocking rooms, and setting up equipment for ED procedures. It also supports 1:1 patient supervision when required and important communication with the healthcare team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Previous training or experience in a healthcare setting.
• Basic computer skills with ability to complete data entry on clinical documentation screens.
• CPR certification.
• ACT 73 - PA State Clearances.

Responsibilities

• Provides age appropriate care for the patient population served.
• Assists with patient care by preparing patients for exam and treatment.
• Stocks patient rooms with supplies and removes outdated items.
• Sets up equipment and procedure trays for ED procedures.
• Responds to Trauma, Stroke, and Code R activations.
• 1:1 patient supervision in “Sitter” role when required.
• Communicates clearly with the healthcare team.
• Serves as a preceptor and mentor for new employees.
• Assists patients with meals, feeds patients as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
