Job summary

UPMC Altoona is seeking an Emergency Department Technician for .9 full-time night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. You will deliver hands-on patient care in a fast-paced ED, joining a collaborative team to support patients and families.

Applicants who have completed an LPN, Medical Assistant, Surgical Technologist, Paramedic, or EMT program are encouraged to apply. The role emphasizes patient safety, documentation, and effective communication under the supervision of the clinical manager.

Qualifications

• Completion of an LPN, Medical Assistant, Surgical Technologist, Paramedic, or EMT program.
• Experience in emergency patient care preferred.
• Night shift and union AFSCME position.

Responsibilities

• Responds effectively in emergency situations.
• Assists RN/physician in admission, transfer and discharge.
• Utilizes restraints and protective measures with documentation.
• Assists with treatments such as Foley catheters, suctioning, dressings, and related care.
• Performs venipuncture and IV access.
• Records vital signs and adheres to safety policies.
• Observes and documents patient changes and care delivered.
