The candidate must have a high school diploma, six months of patient care experience, and EMT/Paramedic/MA/CNA certification or be a nursing student who has completed a Med/Surg rotation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months patient care experience in a health care delivery setting OR completion of the US Armed Services medic program.
• Certification as an EMT, paramedic, MA, or CNA OR nursing student who has completed their first Med/Surg rotation.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care, assisting nursing and physician staff with patient care procedures.
• Inventory and restock emergency department equipment.
• Collect and transport specimens (urine, blood, cultures).
• Assist with admission and discharge, start/stop IV lines, prepare rooms between patients.
• Place patients on monitors, provide wound care, assist with ER procedures as requested.
• Record observations in the patient medical record.
• Communicate patient care needs and changes in condition to staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
