Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking an ER support role to assist emergency department nursing and medical staff with patient care and clerical duties. The position involves a range of patient care activities in the ED and ensuring rooms and equipment are ready for each patient.

Responsibilities include collecting specimens, starting IVs, monitoring patients, and documenting observations. A six-month healthcare experience and relevant EMT/MA/CNA certification are required, with full-time scheduling

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Six months patient care experience in a health care setting is required.
• Certification as EMT, paramedic, MA, or CNA is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect patient care, assisting nursing and physician staff with patient care procedures.
• Inventories and restocks emergency department equipment.
• Collects and transports specimens such as urine, blood, and cultures.
• Assists with admission and discharge of patients, starts and stops IV lines, cleans and prepares examination room between patients.
• Places patients on monitors, provides wound care, assists with orthopedic procedures and other ER procedures as requested.
• Reports and records observations in the patient medical record.
• Notifies nursing staff of patient care needs and changes in condition.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
