Job summary

Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL is seeking a Patient Care Leader for the Emergency Department night shift. This full-time role offers 36 hours per week with 7pm–7am schedule, every other or every third weekend. BSN and 2+ years of nursing experience (preferably including charge nurse leadership) are required.

The leader will provide operational and clinical guidance, collaborate with care management and physicians, and drive safe, efficient patient flow and discharge processes on nights.

Qualifications

• BSN required.
• 2+ years nursing experience, preferably including charge nurse or other unit leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provides operational and clinical leadership on the unit during assigned shift.
• Uses transformational coaching and mentoring with clinical staff.
• Partners with Care Management, nurses and physicians to execute the care plan.
• Ensures patient flow with bed board and timely admissions.
• Attends bed meetings and coordinates resources across departments.
• Coaches nurses to prepare discharges and ensures thorough, standards-based discharges.
• Maintains unit visibility with staff, physicians, volunteers and colleagues.
• Supports financial outcomes and productivity targets with the Clinical Manager.
