Job summary

Trinity Health in West Des Moines, IA seeks a dedicated RN for the Emergency Department. This full-time, 36-hour week position covers the night shift from 7 PM to 7 AM and focuses on professional emergency nursing across all ages, patient education, advocacy, and care coordination within a multidisciplinary team.

Ideal candidates hold Iowa RN licensure, BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and PALS certifications, with ER experience preferred or completion of a senior preceptorship.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Iowa (or compact state).
• ER nursing experience preferred.
• BLS, ACLS, TNCC and PALS certifications or eligible.

Responsibilities

• Applies professional emergency nursing skills using assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Promotes patient-centered care: respect for values, coordination, education, comfort, and emotional support.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to provide continuous, well-coordinated care.
• Provides education to meet learning needs within the care plan.
• Communicates plan of care and patient changes to the healthcare team.
• Responds quickly to emergent/critical situations.
• Documents complete patient records reflecting nursing care.
• Supervises ED Technicians and precepts students and new employees.
• Works under Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies to improve standards.
