Job summary

MercyOne West Des Moines is seeking a dedicated Emergency Department RN to provide expert nursing care for acutely ill and injured patients across all ages. You will apply the nursing process, advocate for patients, educate families, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

This role requires Iowa RN licensure, BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and PALS within specified timelines; prior ED experience preferred. The position is full-time with an evening shift on a 36-hour week.

Qualifications

• Possession of a current Iowa RN license.
• 1 year of RN experience preferred OR recent ED preceptorship or related pre-hospital experience.
• Mandatory Reporter abuse training due within 3 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 6 weeks of hire.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire.
• TNCC within 1 year of hire.
• PALS within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional emergency nursing care using the nursing process for acutely ill or injured patients.
• Educate patients and families and act as patient advocate.
• Serve as a preceptor for students and new staff; supervise EMTs and ED techs.
