Job summary

The Catholic Charities of Baltimore, through Gallagher Services, is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their daily activities and pursuing their goals. This overnight role supports individuals in meaningful activities and community engagement.

You will provide total daily living assistance, promote independence, maintain respectful communication, and advocate for each person’s rights while keeping accurate care records.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid driver’s license with at least 2 years of driving experience and no more than 3 points.
• Comfortable driving agency vehicles and assisting people who use wheelchairs.
• Able to lift up to 75 pounds, stand for long periods, and provide physical assistance when needed.
• Completion of Medication Technician Training Program (or willingness to complete).

Responsibilities

• This is a total care home. You will provide full support with daily routines such as total hygiene care, cooking, cleaning laundry housekeeping, transporting to and from day programs Drs. Appointments and medication administration etc.
• Help promote independence
• Be patient and respectful in action and speaking
• Advocate for each person’s rights and help build their confidence and sense of self
• Keep clear, respectful records to ensure continuity of care and support
