Qualifications

• Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program meeting ARDMS requirements.
• RDMS and RVT credentials are required or must be obtained within specified timelines.
• BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations with independent judgment.
• Ensure patient safety, comfort and proper identification during exams.
• Explain procedures to patients and answer questions; minimize patient stay times.
• Operate imaging equipment safely and coordinate examinations efficiently.
• Maintain QC and report equipment malfunctions; interact with radiologists.
• Provide supervision and instruction to students/residents when appropriate.
