Job summary

Covestic Inc is seeking a Data Center Technician II (L2) to support deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of server, storage, network, and infrastructure equipment in a 24/7 data center during overnight shifts.

This role operates with minimal supervision, performing hardware installs, break/fix, diagnostics, and project-based deployments while documenting changes and adhering to safety and change-management procedures.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in data center, IT operations, or similar environment.
• Experience with server hardware installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Strong rack-and-stack and structured cabling skills.
• Experience with ticketing, asset tracking, and change management processes.
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware issues independently with minimal supervision.
• Overnight shift capability in a production data center.
• Preferred: Dell, HPE, Supermicro, Lenovo, or Cisco server platforms.
• Familiarity with Linux and Windows Server operating systems.
• Experience with iDRAC, iLO, IPMI, or related tools.
• Certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, Server+ or equivalents.

Responsibilities

• Unbox, stage, and prepare equipment for deployment.
• Rack and stack servers, storage systems, network devices, and supporting infrastructure.
• Install, route, and manage fiber and copper cabling per standards.
• Label and document equipment, power connections, and cable runs.
• Support server migrations, rack builds, and infrastructure expansion projects.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Execute hardware upgrades (memory, CPUs, storage, NICs, PSUs, GPUs).
• Server initialization, validation, and post-deployment testing.
• Support equipment decommissioning and disposal processes.
• Diagnose and resolve server, storage, and hardware failures; escalate as needed.
• Monitor data center infra and respond to operational alerts.
• Maintain accurate records in ticketing and asset management systems.
• Provide guidance to L1 Technicians and assist with onboarding.
