Job summary

American Express is seeking a Data Center Operations Technician to ensure safe operation, monitoring and maintenance of critical data center infrastructure.

You will work on BAS/BMS, chillers, pumps, diesel generators, UPS, and fire/life safety systems, coordinating with vendors and maintaining high availability in a secure environment. This role reports to the Manager – Technology Operations Support and requires readiness for night shifts and weekends.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in an industry that includes operations & maintenance.
• Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, controls, and fire and life safety systems.
• Experience working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and utilizing computer systems for information sharing.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain data center systems including BAS/BMS, mechanical systems, electrical distribution, diesel generators, UPS, and Fire/Life safety systems.
• Perform routine preventive/corrective maintenance and testing on data center infrastructure.
• Conduct routine inspections of mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment.
• Analyze system failures for trends and root causes; develop risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
• Use data capture and diagnostic tools to analyze system performance and support data-driven decision-making.
• Coordinate and lead third-party vendors during maintenance, repair, and project activities.
• Proactively communicate data center availability risks and operational concerns to leadership.
• Role schedule will be night shift, including weekends, and may be temporarily adjusted to support operations.
