Job summary

Black Box Network Services is seeking a Network Infrastructure Technician to install, test and certify structured and patch panel cabling in a data center environment. The role requires experience with high-speed optical cabling, underfloor cabling trays, and Fluke Versiv mainframe testing, with shift work including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Appropriate equipment training with high-speed fiber optic transport.
  • Experience in data centers and communications closets.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Knowledge of IEEE and BICSI cabling standards.
  • Willing to work shift work including nights and weekends.
  • 2-5 years experience in a relevant environment.

Responsibilities

  • Patching cabling between network equipment and customer’s network.
  • Installing power cables from equipment to power supply in rack/cabinet/closet.
  • Installing, troubleshooting and de-installing network equipment.
  • Installing/swapping out cables, switches, routers and related gear.
  • Completing MAC requests within defined service levels.
  • Providing infrastructure cabling break-fix services for network infrastructure.
  • Performing Layer 1 troubleshooting.
  • Assisting with facilities efforts.
  • Power and UPS restoral.
  • Emergency cooling restoration.
  • Fire suppression exercises and post-fire recovery.
  • Acting as interface between site associates and centralized project/operations/MAC management.
