Job summary

The Kroger Co. is seeking a store associate in Ann Arbor to deliver exceptional customer service, maintain a safe and clean store environment, and support the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals.

You will embody the Customer 1st strategy and uphold Kroger's values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety. Responsibilities include helping customers, building product knowledge, maintaining inventory, ensuring product freshness, and following food safety

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates
• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products
• Recommend grocery items to customers and inform them of grocery specials
• Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell by dates
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise and provide customers with fresh products
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager
• Display a positive attitude
• Stay current with ads
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain logs
• Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions
• Practice preventive maintenance and notify managers of repairs
• Notify management of accidents
• Report safety risks, illegal activity, theft or fraud
• Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without accommodation
