Job summary

The University of Virginia Facilities Management department is seeking an Overnight Custodian for the Sunday–Thursday shift (11:00pm–7:30am, starting Sunday 11pm). The role is full-time and on-site in Charlottesville, VA, with UVA benefits and a starting pay of $15.00 per hour plus a $2.50 evening shift differential.

Responsibilities include maintaining offices, classrooms, restrooms, and public areas; removing trash, cleaning surfaces, dusting, vacuuming, and operating cleaning equipment as

Qualifications

• Basic housekeeping experience in a workplace setting preferred.
• Ability to follow established policies, procedures and directions.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential.
• Basic computer, tablet, or smartphone usage and timesheet submission may be required.
• Experience with cleaning equipment such as buffers or waxers is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Maintain offices, classrooms, restrooms, public areas, or other assigned areas in clean and orderly condition.
• Remove trash, clean bathrooms, wipe down surfaces, dust, vacuum, etc. Apply proper methods and materials.
• Maintain clean and orderly housekeeping closets and equipment and keep inventories of supplies, requesting additional supplies as needed.
• Report all repairs and pest control needs, and any housekeeping-related violations by residents, guests, or staff.
• May perform minor maintenance tasks, such as changing bulbs, or more complex tasks including operating cleaning equipment such as buffers or waxers.
• In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
