Job summary

The University of Virginia Facilities Management Department is hiring Custodians for a 3:00am - 11:30am, M-F shift in the Central Grounds zone. Custodians perform housekeeping services in assigned areas using safe practices and proper techniques; they maintain good relationships with customers, staff, students, and supervisors, and complete special project work as assigned.

• Basic computer, tablet, and/or smartphone usage and ability to submit electronic timesheets.

Responsibilities

• Maintain offices, classrooms, restrooms, public areas, or other assigned academic areas in clean and orderly conditions.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as auto scrubbers, buffers and burnishers.
• Remove trash, clean bathrooms, wipe down surfaces, dust, vacuum, mop; may mix cleaning solutions.
• Maintain clean and orderly housekeeping closets and equipment; keep inventories of supplies and request additional supplies as needed.
• Report repairs and pest control needs, and any housekeeping-related violations by residents, guests, or staff.
• May perform minor maintenance tasks, such as changing lightbulbs.
