RWJBarnabas Health in Somerville, NJ is seeking a part-time Cat Scan Technician to perform CT procedures and ensure patient safety. The position requires a NJ license and ARRT CT certification within 12-24 months, CPR certification or willingness to obtain within six months, and a minimum of three years hospital experience as a staff technologist preferred.

Qualifications

• Three years of hospital experience as a staff technologist preferred.
• NJ license and ARRT CT certification required within 12-24 months of hire.
• CPR certification required or willing to obtain within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Position patient to obtain study as prescribed by SOPs.
• Position anatomical parts as indicated by SOPs.
• Prepare to insure prompt commencement of the procedure.
• Ensure equipment is ready prior to starting the examination.
• Instructs and administers cleansing preps and contrast agents under Radiologist.
• Protect patients and staff by proper radiation protection techniques.
• Protect reproductive organs with appropriate apparel when not visualizing those areas.
• Transfer and position patients for exams per physician specs.
• Assist physicians in performance of examinations.
• Competency in IV contrast administration including venipuncture.
• Maintain sterile technique and restock supplies; manage room and stock.
• Maintain equipment maintenance logs for preventative maintenance.
• Schedule patients and ensure smooth flow and prep including contrast administration.
• Quality control of CAT scan examinations.
• Enter studies in RIS/HIS and manage PACS as needed.
• Perform related clerical tasks and cooperate with hospital staff.
