Job summary

Albany Medical Center seeks a Registered Nurse to join the Critical Care Float Pool in Albany, NY. This position provides exposure to Neuro-Surgical Trauma ICU, Medical ICU, Coronary Care Unit, and Cardiovascular ICU with opportunities to advance critical care skills.

As a Float Pool RN, you will administer medications, monitor patients, collaborate with the team, and maintain high standards of patient care in a Level I trauma center. BLS/ACLS required; NYS RN license essential.

Qualifications

  • Current NYS RN license required.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required or maintained.
  • Minimum 1–3 years ICU/Progressive Care experience.
  • Ability to apply quality improvement concepts.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Implements physician orders, administers medications, starts IVs.
  • Performs treatments, procedures and tests; documents care.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic tests to assess conditions.
  • Assesses patient needs and responses to care.
  • Provides primary and emergency care for injuries/illnesses.
  • Collaborates on Plan of Care with nursing team.
  • Directs ancillary staff and maintains professional standards.
  • Maintains nursing knowledge and applies guidelines.
  • Graduate of nursing program (Diploma/ASN/BSN).
