Job summary

Alcon's Engineering team is seeking a Controls Shift Engineer to design, develop, implement, and maintain automation and control systems with a focus on modeling and control theory.

You will lead critical tasks across instrumentation, electrical and automation systems for manufacturing, applying advanced engineering principles to optimize reliability and performance while ensuring GxP SOP compliance and thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• Fluent read/write/speak English.
• Location onsite; 36-48 hours per week; night shift schedule.
• Travel 0-5% given.
• Sponsorship & relocation not available.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute design, development, implementation, operation, and maintenance of instrumentation, electrical, and automation control systems.
• Design and support automation control systems across manufacturing applications.
• Apply mathematical modeling and analyze system dynamics to develop control strategies.
• Utilize control theory to optimize system reliability and performance.
• Support manufacturing operations through automation design and troubleshooting.
• Contribute to complex engineering projects with decisions impacting outcomes.
• Continuously evaluate advancements in automation and system design.
• Ensure compliance with GxP SOPs and quality standards.
• Support regulatory compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
