Job summary

The City of New York's Department of Homeless Services (DHS) is hiring one Community Assistant to support shelter operations, housekeeping, and intake-site services. The role emphasizes maintaining sanitary conditions and assisting with client needs across facilities.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand and carry out simple instructions.
• Must understand and be understood in English.

Responsibilities

• Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain health and sanitation.
• Clean restrooms, dorms, laundry rooms, common areas and kitchens; dispose of litter.
• Load/unload deliveries, stock supplies, transport household items, and distribute client mail.
• Monitor client program activities and assist with crowd control as required.
