Job summary

Kindred Hospital San Antonio Central is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support professional nursing staff in providing patient care in assigned areas. You will assist patients with daily living activities and basic care, while helping with vital signs, specimen collection, and care coordination under the supervision of registered nurses.

You will contribute to a safe, clean environment, support admission/discharge processes, and respond promptly to patient needs.

Qualifications

• Must read, write and speak fluent English.
• Must have good and regular attendance.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Able to organize tasks, develop action plans, set priorities and function under stressful situations.
• Ability to maintain a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
• Approximate percent of time required to travel: 0%
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Assists professional nursing personnel in providing patient care in assigned area.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and personal care.
• Performs more complex clinical skills under direction of nursing personnel.
• Consults with and informs supervisor of unit activities and problems related to patient care.
• Provides general nursing care: positioning, turning, bed care, feeding assistance.
• Records vitals and intake/output; documents timely.
• Prepares patient room for admission/transfer and ensures equipment is in room.
• Assists in admission, transfer and discharge procedures.
• Responds to patient call lights, telephone, and paging system.
• Under RN direction, performs routine treatment procedures and safety tasks.
• Able to release and apply restraints under RN direction.
• Assists with more complex patient treatments as needed.
• Serves and removes patient meal trays and assists with feeding.
