Qualifications

• Must read, write and speak fluent English.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Able to organize tasks, develop action plans, set priorities and function under stressful situations.

Responsibilities

• Consults with and informs supervisor of unit activities, needs and problems related to patient care.
• Performs general nursing tasks: positioning, lifting, turning, assisting with bedpan/urinal, ambulating, post-op care, stockings, baths, changing linens, cleaning surfaces.
• Takes/records temp, pulse, resp, weight, height, BP, intake/output; documents promptly.
• Prepares room/bed for admission or transfer; maintains clean, comfortable environment.
• Assists in admission, transfer, discharge; handles patient belongings.
• Answers call lights, phones, paging; responds appropriately.
• Under RN direction, performs routine treatments (enemas, heat/cold appliances).
• Releases/removes/reapplies restraints under RN direction; ensures proper positioning.
• Assists RN/LVN/LPN with complex treatments.
• Serves/removes meal tray; assists with feeding.
