Job summary

Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, part of Covenant Health, is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to join the Flex Pool in a full-time night shift. You will support the nursing team under a RN, performing patient care tasks and handling basic patient needs in a high-acuity hospital setting.

The role requires CNA certification in Tennessee, hospital training, and CPR certification. Prior clinical experience is valued, with emphasis on safety, teamwork, and reliable patient care delivery.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or an equivalent certificate (GED).
• Must have successfully completed a hospital-approved formal training program or equivalent.
• Must be able to read with comprehension, write legibly, and perform basic arithmetic computations.
• Must have understanding and knowledge of patient care which may be appropriately delegated to nursing assistants.
• Must exhibit basic knowledge of setting up and maintaining traction.
• Knowledge of bio-psychosocial needs of adult, geriatric and pediatric patients is essential.
• Special knowledge is required in growth and development needs of pediatric/geriatric patients where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Takes and records patient's vital signs.
• Promptly completes personal care of patients.
• Delivers meal trays to patients.
• Assists patients with ambulation.
• Assists with lifting, moving, transporting and discharging patients.
• Promptly responds to patient calls.
• Serves as messenger to obtain/deliver necessary supplies/equipment/specimens.
• Observes and reports any significant changes in patient's condition to nursing staff.
• Helps maintain clean and orderly patient and work area environments.
• Restocks patient and unit supplies.
• NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Other duties as assigned.
• HEALTH/SAFETY/COMPETENCE: Cannot pose a direct threat to health or safety of self or others.
• Removes medications from the delivery system and promptly gives to the appropriate nursing staff.
