Job summary

The Nursing Assistant (NA) at Good Samaritan Miller provides resident-centered nursing care in a long-term care setting under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will assist with daily living activities, observe residents’ needs, and follow infection prevention and control policies.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum age of 16.
• Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement.
• CNA training and certification required and provided by facility.
• A minimum of 12 hours continuing education are required annually.
• For applicable states, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.
• Dependent on facility and required responsibilities, this role may classify as a Sanford Category II Driver requiring a motor vehicle report and proof of valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident-centered nursing care under the supervision of an RN.
• Assist with daily living activities: bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, and recording vital signs.
• Assist with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct techniques.
• Provide range of motion and passive exercises; assist with meals and dining.
• Document resident interactions and communicate changes to the charge nurse.
• Support wellness and recreational programs and assist with housekeeping and laundry as needed.
