Job summary

Sanford Health in Sioux Falls is seeking a Nursing Assistant (NA) to provide resident-centered nursing care in long-term care during night shifts. You will assist with daily living activities, monitor vital signs, and support the healthcare team under the supervision of an RN.

The role requires CNA certification or active enrollment in a CNA program, with ongoing education and adherence to infection prevention protocols and PPE usage.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum age of 16; prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement.
• Satisfactorily completes yearly department specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits for each year. A minimum of 12 hours continuing education are required annually.
• When applicable, for applicable states, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.
• Dependent on facility and required responsibilities, this role may classify as a Sanford Category II Driver requiring a motor vehicle report and proof of valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic health care assistance including daily living activities (bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing).
• Records vital signs and monitors resident condition.
• Documents resident interactions and communicates changes to the charge nurse.
• Assists with transfers, repositioning, walking, and range of motion exercises.
• Assists with meals and hydration; supports wellness and recreational activities.
• Provides housekeeping and laundry services to keep living areas clean and functional.
