Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be listed on the IDPH Health Care Worker Registry (HCWR) as an Illinois CNA OR a nursing student who has passed the written competency exam and is listed on the HCWR.
• CPR/BLS Certification.
• Ability to read and write, perform simple mathematical calculations, follow oral and written instructions, perform variety of tasks without direct supervision and perform duties requiring continuous physical effort.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and/or in written form.
• Ability to work in partnership with management and staff.
• Occasional lifting may be heavy and awkward, over 50 lbs.
• Moderate to extreme physical effort such as walking, standing, performing CPR, and lifting materials, equipment, objects and/or patients may be required.
• Vision, hearing, and sense of touch must be adequate to enable one to quickly and accurately perform tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care activities including vital signs and basic tests.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living using aseptic techniques.
• Assists patients with personal hygiene, ambulation, and nourishment/fluids.
• Collects patient specimens and weighs patients.
• Assists with discharge and transfer preparation of patients.
• Maintains the patient environment and room readiness.
• Maintains supplies and equipment and the environment.
• Communicates and documents activities in records or logs.
• Initiates CPR and calls a Dr. Cart.
• Performs receptionist duties for the assigned area.
