Job summary

UChicago Medicine in Chicago, IL is seeking a Nursing Support Assistant (CNA) to provide patient care under RN supervision in a 5NE Hospital Medicine unit. This full-time (0.9 FTE) position works days onsite at Hyde Park, supporting daily operations and patient care with accurate documentation.

The role requires high school diploma or equivalent, HCWR CNA listing or nursing student status, CPR/BLS certification, and strong communication and physical endurance. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must be listed on the IDPH Health Care Worker Registry (HCWR) as a CNA or a nursing student who passed the competency exam and listed on HCWR.
• CPR/BLS Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care activities including vital signs, enemas and basic tests such as glucoscan, hemacult and multistix.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, with aseptic techniques and infection control in performance of duties.
• Assists patients with personal hygiene, ambulation and nourishment/fluids.
• Completes procedures such as collecting patient specimens and weighing patients.
• Assists with discharge and transfer preparation of patients.
• Maintains patient environment: makes beds, tidies rooms, prepares rooms for admission/transfer.
• Assists with maintenance of supplies/equipment and the environment.
• Communicates and documents activities onto proper records or logs.
• Initiates CPR and calls a Dr. Cart.
• Performs receptionist duties for assigned area as requested.
