Job summary

University of Chicago Medicine is seeking a Nursing Support Assistant (CNA) to provide essential patient care on 5NE Hospital Medicine. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will perform duties including vital signs, ADLs, specimen collection, and discharge prep.

This on-site role requires HCWR CNA registration or nursing student status, CPR/BLS certification, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Shifts are nights for a 0.9 FTE, with responsibilities spanning patient care, environment

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• IDPH HCWR CNA registration or nursing student with competency is required.
• CPR/BLS Certification is required.
• Ability to read and write, follow instructions, and work with minimal supervision.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform substantial physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care activities including vital signs and basic tests.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and maintains infection control.
• Assists with personal hygiene, ambulation and nourishment.
• Performs procedures such as collecting specimens and weighing patients.
• Assists with discharge and transfer preparation.
• Maintains patient environment and supplies/equipment.
• Documents activities accurately in records or logs.
• Initiates CPR and calls for medical team as needed.
• Performs receptionist duties for assigned area.
