Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist/MLS to join our Grand Blanc, MI team on a night shift. This production-based role supports high-volume clinical testing and patient care.

Responsibilities include specimen acceptability, routine and complex testing, instrument troubleshooting, reagent evaluation, and timely reporting of results. A bachelor’s degree in a chemical/biological discipline and MLS or equivalent experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree.
• ASCP or AMT certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures; identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate PPE.
