Job summary

Beacon Health System in Michigan is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist to perform waived, moderate-, and high-complexity testing in assigned sections. The role is full-time, 36 hours per week, night shift with weekends and holidays per unit rotation.

Responsibilities include evaluating specimens, ensuring quality controls, operating instruments, reporting results, and troubleshooting to support accurate diagnoses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or related field.
• Meets CLIA qualifications for moderate- and high-complexity testing before independently testing patient specimens.
• ASCP or equivalent MLS/MT certification required at hire or within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs assigned laboratory tests, calculations, and analyses per procedures and criteria.
• Assesses specimen acceptability and handles collection, processing, and reporting.
• Maintains records, quality control, and instrument maintenance; troubleshoots issues.
• Communicates critical results promptly to authorized personnel and supports process improvement.
