Job summary

Saint Joseph Mercy Health System is seeking a Plant Boiler Operator to manage and monitor the central plant equipment, including boilers, chillers, and emergency generators. You will ensure safe, continuous steam and chilled water supply for hospital operations and patient care.

The role requires licensed boiler operation and refrigeration credentials, hands-on maintenance, and the ability to interpret gauges, schematics, and control systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• License requirements: boiler and refrigeration licenses as listed in the ad.
• Experience in large central heating and chilled water plant preferred.

Responsibilities

• Start/Stop Boilers and maintain steam supply for campus amenities.
• Operate and monitor central plant chilled water systems and related equipment.
• Monitor four diesel generators for campus emergency power.
• Respond to pump and fire safety equipment alarms and outages.
• Test and treat boiler water and cooling system chemistry.
• Inspect plant machinery and perform repairs or coordinate with contractors.
