Job summary

Maersk is seeking a CDL Class A Driver in the Las Vegas area to safely transport freight to customers and distribution centers, perform inspections, and maintain accurate logs. You will operate tractor-trailers, load and secure cargo, communicate with dispatch, and uphold DOT hours-of-service and safety standards.

Local routes with occasional overnight stays. This role emphasizes professional customer service, reliable records, and a clean, professional vehicle; compensation starts at $30/hour

Qualifications

Job Summary

A CDL Class A Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting freight to customers, distribution centers, and other designated locations. The driver operates commercial motor vehicles, completes required inspections, secures cargo, maintains accurate records, and provides professional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely operate Class A commercial motor vehicles, including tractor-trailers.
  • Transport and deliver freight according to assigned routes, schedules, and customer requirements.
  • Perform required pre-trip, en route, and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Properly load, secure, inspect, and protect cargo during transit.
  • Follow all applicable DOT regulations, hours-of-service requirements, traffic laws, company policies, and customer-site rules.
  • Maintain accurate electronic or written logs, delivery documents, bills of lading, inspection reports, and other required records.
  • Communicate with dispatch regarding routes, delays, deliveries, vehicle issues, and changes in operating conditions.
  • Safely maneuver vehicles at loading docks, yards, parking areas, and customer locations.
  • Promptly report accidents, traffic violations, mechanical problems, cargo damage, and unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain a clean and professional vehicle, work area, and appearance.
  • Provide courteous and professional service to customers and operational partners.
  • Assist with loading and unloading freight when required.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Valid CDL Class A license and acceptable driving record required.
  • Current DOT medical certification required.
  • LTL/City driving experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, hours-of-service requirements, and transportation compliance standards.
  • Ability to safely operate tractor-trailers and commercial motor vehicles in varied driving and weather conditions.
  • Ability to accurately complete logs, bills of lading, inspection reports, and transportation records.
  • Strong customer service, communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to safety, cargo security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work overtime, extended hours, and flexible schedules when required.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.
Physical Requirements
  • This position requires frequent entering and exiting of commercial vehicles, standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
  • Employees must be able to perform required vehicle and cargo inspections, secure loads, and lift and move products weighing up to 75 lbs. when required.
Safety Expectations
  • Employees are expected to comply with all company safety policies, applicable DOT requirements, OSHA standards, TSA requirements where applicable, and customer-site safety rules.
  • Employees must immediately report accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, equipment damage, cargo damage, and regulatory concerns.
