Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join the Cardiac Surgery team in a dedicated nocturnal inpatient role. The APP will care for high-acuity cardiac surgery patients, collaborating with surgeons, physicians, and nurses to manage admissions, discharges, and treatment plans.

The role offers autonomy in a fast-paced environment, with focus on inpatient management, diagnostic interpretation, and family education.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an ARC‑PA accredited PA program or equivalent nursing/AP program.
• Texas licensure with prescriptive authority as applicable (PA or APRN).
• Current ACLS certification per UT Southwestern policy.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive physical exams and document findings.
• Develop and implement patient plans of care with multidisciplinary teams.
• Order and interpret diagnostic studies and coordinate care.
• Provide patient and family education and counseling.
• Facilitate consultations and educational activities within the unit.
• Participate in quality initiatives and research protocols when applicable.
• Perform duties with autonomy in a fast-paced inpatient setting.
