Job summary

James Madison University Facilities Management is seeking full-time evening and night shift housekeeping workers in Harrisonburg, VA. This position offers a starting pay of $15 per hour ($31,200 per year) and requires availability for evening/night hours with day-shift training in the first week.

Applicants should be able to stand for long periods, handle cleaning chemicals and equipment, and work well within a team. A background check is required and safety procedures must be followed.

Qualifications

• Stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding duties.
• Work with industrial-strength chemicals and equipment including buffers, scrubbers, and waxers.
• Able to clean materials containing bloodborne pathogens.
• Effective time-management and attention to detail.
• Positive interpersonal skills and willingness to work cooperatively in a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular and special cleaning of assigned areas using manual tools and power equipment.
• Understand and practice all university safety procedures for equipment operation and chemical use.
• Participate in the university’s trash/recycling program.
• Staff may be moved on a regular basis to meet short-term needs.
