Job summary

Pepperdine University is seeking a skilled night-shift maintenance technician to support the Department of Facilities Services. You will perform carpentry, plumbing, minor electrical, and HVAC tasks, inspect facilities, and coordinate with internal departments and vendors to ensure timely, safe work.

The role requires five years of general maintenance experience, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to read plans.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or its equivalent.
• Five years of experience with general building maintenance and repair work.
• Broad technical knowledge of practices, materials, and techniques in maintaining building systems.
• Knowledge of mechanical equipment operation and ability to perform repairs without supervision.
• Ability to read plans, design specifications, and manufacturers' instructions to determine equipment configuration and proper installation.
• Competency with hand and power tools, hoists, augers, and related equipment.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with basic computer skills and MS Office.
• Strong English communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional demeanor and ability to work independently or as a team.
• Willingness to work overtime and respond to after-hours emergency calls.

Responsibilities

• Respond to safety dispatches, troubleshoot, repair, and perform maintenance tasks per plans and instructions.
• Inspect buildings and equipment, perform routine and preventative maintenance, and work from ladders and rooftops.
• Repair or replace building components; perform basic plumbing, HVAC, and electrical tasks as needed.
• Track materials, procure supplies, document work with time and materials used, and generate work orders.
• Coordinate with vendors and departments to ensure timely progress and safety compliance.
• Support events as needed and maintain clean, organized work areas.
• Uphold Pepperdine standards and perform other duties as assigned.
