Job summary

Flex is seeking an Automation Technician on the night shift to maintain and improve automated production equipment on a designated line. You will troubleshoot hardware and software, perform preventive maintenance, and support production to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.

Based in Buffalo Grove, IL, this role requires strong electrical and mechanical aptitude, the ability to read schematics, and effective communication with engineering and operations teams.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical diploma in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, or Industrial Technology.
• 4+ years hands-on experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and control diagrams.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot automated production equipment, including robots, conveyors, vision systems, and automated stations.
• Respond quickly to downtime, diagnose root cause, and restore production.
• Support daily operations to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
• Verify operation of safety interlocks, light curtains, E-stops, and guarding.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automation equipment.
• Identify recurring issues and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Retrieve spare parts and assist with equipment documentation.
• Participate in root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
• Document repairs, changes, and maintenance activities.
• Support training of operators and maintenance personnel on automated systems.
