Job summary

QXO is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee assembly, truss, and material coordination in a manufacturing environment. You will lead a team across multiple stations, assign tasks, monitor quality, and ensure safety.

The role requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and excellent communication to meet daily production goals. The position involves night shifts (6:30 pm – early morning) and requires ensuring timely completion of orders, proper staging, and adherence to safety standards

What You’ll Do

Hours: 6:30 pm – 1:00/02:00/03:00 am - depending on production schedule

Assembly & Production Operations
  • Lead and coordinate daily assembly and production activities to meet established schedules and customer requirements
  • Assign employees to workstations and production tasks based on workload, production priorities, and individual capabilities
  • Review work orders and production instructions to ensure jobs are completed accurately and efficiently
  • Verify required components have been cut and are available before work is released to assembly tables
  • Monitor production workflow and proactively address missing materials, components, or other issues that could delay production
  • Coordinate with Saw Operations regarding missing or additional wood components required for assembly
  • Request production supplies and materials as needed to maintain workflow
  • Monitor production performance and adjust labor or priorities as operational needs change
  • Ensure completed work is properly prepared for staging, stacking, and dispatch
Truss Assembly & Material Coordination
  • Oversee the assembly of trusses and related structural building components according to production drawings and work orders
  • Coordinate forklift operators supporting assembly operations
  • Coordinate employees responsible for plate picking and other material preparation activities
  • Verify required lumber, plates, and components are available before assembly begins
  • Respond to production employee requests related to missing materials, work orders, equipment, or production requirements
  • Coordinate with Stackers to ensure finished products are complete, properly organized, and meet quality expectations
  • Communicate with Dispatch regarding missing or incomplete trusses and finished work orders
Quality Control
  • Inspect completed assemblies to verify compliance with production drawings, specifications, and company quality standards
  • Ensure production employees follow established assembly and quality‑control procedures
  • Identify defects, incomplete work, or production discrepancies and coordinate corrective action
  • Monitor finished products for quality and completeness before they are released for staging or shipment
  • Promote accuracy throughout the production process to minimize scrap, rework, and customer issues
Team Leadership & Employee Development
  • Provide day‑to‑day leadership, direction, coaching, and support to assembly employees
  • Motivate employees to achieve established production, quality, safety, and delivery goals
  • Train new employees on job responsibilities, production procedures, machinery, equipment, and safe work practices
  • Monitor employee performance and provide feedback and coaching as appropriate
  • Track employee working hours, attendance, punctuality, and absenteeism according to company procedures
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement throughout the department
  • Escalate employee or operational concerns to management as appropriate
Equipment & Work Area Management
  • Monitor production machinery and equipment for proper operation
  • Identify and report damaged, malfunctioning, or unsafe machinery and equipment
  • Coordinate with Maintenance or management regarding equipment repair needs
  • Ensure workstations and production areas remain clean, organized, and free of unnecessary hazards
  • Coordinate workstation cleanup throughout the shift and at the completion of production activities
  • Support efficient utilization of production equipment and resources
Safety & Compliance
  • Promote and maintain a safety‑first culture throughout assembly operations
  • Ensure employees follow company safety policies, procedures, and established safe work practices
  • Verify employees consistently wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and other applicable protective equipment
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, accidents, injuries, and near misses
  • Reinforce proper equipment operation and material‑handling practices
  • Participate in required safety meetings, training, and continuous safety improvement initiatives
Operational Excellence
  • Communicate effectively with Production, Dispatch, Yard, Maintenance, and Operations regarding production status and priorities
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow, productivity, quality, and operational efficiency
  • Support continuous improvement activities throughout the production operation
  • Maintain accurate production, attendance, and operational documentation as required
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

  • Experience in truss manufacturing, building components, lumber, wood products, or construction materials preferred
  • Knowledge of truss assembly processes, production workflow, and material handling is a plus
  • Experience coordinating forklifts, material preparation, saw operations, or finished‑product staging preferred
  • Experience training and developing production employees
  • Basic computer and production reporting skills preferred
  • Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing and production environment
  • Frequent exposure to production machinery, forklifts, lumber, saw operations, noise, dust, and varying temperatures
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, climb, and perform physical production activities as required
  • Ability to lift and move heavy materials using appropriate lifting techniques, team assistance, or mechanical equipment
  • Ability to safely navigate active manufacturing and material‑handling areas
  • Required PPE must be worn according to company and facility requirements
  • Ability to work assigned day, evening, or night shifts based on operational needs
  • Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required based on production schedules
