Job summary

QXO, a leading building products distributor and manufacturer, is seeking a Truss Assembler II to join our Fayetteville production team. You will assemble roof trusses and structural components per drawings, orders, and specs, while maintaining quality and safety standards.

You will read production drawings, handle materials, operate tools and equipment, and collaborate with the team to meet schedules. Conveyor and safety procedures apply; overtime may be required.

What you'll do:

The Truss Assembler II is an experienced manufacturing team member responsible for assembling roof trusses and structural building components according to engineering drawings, work orders, and production specifications. This role supports efficient production by independently performing assembly tasks, maintaining high quality standards, monitoring workflow, and assisting teammates as needed. The Production Associate II demonstrates proficiency with production equipment, promotes workplace safety, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing operation.

Component Assembly & Production
  • Assemble roof trusses and structural building components according to production drawings, engineering specifications, and work orders
  • Measure, mark, align, and fasten lumber and structural components using hand tools, pneumatic tools, and production equipment
  • Read and interpret production drawings to identify lumber dimensions, connector plate sizes, assembly requirements, and stacking sequences
  • Inspect materials prior to assembly and remove damaged or non-conforming products
  • Monitor production workflow and assist other production areas as operational needs require
  • Demonstrate proficiency operating production equipment used throughout the truss assembly process
Material Handling & Workstation Support
  • Retrieve, stage, and organize lumber, connector plates, fasteners, and production materials
  • Set up workstations and production equipment to support efficient manufacturing
  • Monitor inventory of production materials and communicate shortages to production leadership
  • Assist with staging, loading, and movement of completed trusses throughout production and yard operations
  • Operate forklifts and approved material handling equipment when authorized
Quality Control
  • Perform quality inspections throughout the assembly process
  • Verify dimensions, component placement, connector plate installation, and workmanship
  • Identify production defects, damaged materials, or quality concerns and notify supervisors promptly
  • Maintain awareness of production requirements to minimize errors, material waste, and product damage
  • Ensure completed products meet engineering specifications and company quality standards
Safety & Equipment Operation
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, OSHA requirements, and PPE standards
  • Perform routine inspections of assigned tools and production equipment
  • Safely operate hand tools, pneumatic nail guns, saws, forklifts, and other manufacturing equipment
  • Maintain clean, organized, and hazard‑free workstations and production areas
  • Report equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or operational concerns immediately
Team Collaboration
  • Work closely with Lead Production Associates, Supervisors, and fellow production team members to meet production schedules
  • Support cross‑training initiatives and assist newer Production Associates as needed
  • Participate in required safety meetings, production training, and continuous improvement activities
  • Maintain dependable attendance and contribute to a positive team environment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
What you'll bring:
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to workplace safety
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Ability to read and interpret production drawings, assembly instructions, and work orders
  • Mechanical aptitude and proficiency using hand tools, pneumatic tools, and production equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative production team
  • Ability to adapt to changing production priorities
  • Previous experience in truss manufacturing, wall panel production, carpentry, construction, or building materials manufacturing
  • Prior experience as a Truss Assembler I or comparable manufacturing role
  • Experience operating saws, pneumatic nail guns, staple guns, forklifts, and other production equipment
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification
  • Familiarity with production drawings, connector plate systems, and truss assembly processes
  • Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing and production environment with occasional outdoor exposure
  • Exposure to machinery, dust, noise, vibration, and seasonal weather conditions
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds regularly; heavier materials require team lifting or mechanical assistance
  • Frequent use of hand tools, pneumatic tools, production machinery, and material‑handling equipment
  • Overtime and weekend work may be required based on production schedules and business needs
