Job summary

Sonora Quest in Tucson, AZ is seeking an Anatomic Pathology lab professional for night shift to support specimen receipt, sample preparation and waived testing. The role involves assisting in histology, QC/QA, and training new staff under supervision of a Pathologist Assistant.

The position requires handling pathology specimens, maintaining a clean work environment and coordinating with team to ensure timely workflow and compliance with CLIA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate's degree and be eligible for ASCP HT registry OR ASCP HT registry OR a Bachelor’s degree with Anatomic Pathology departmental-specific certification documentation within 6 months of hire date.
• Must be willing to cross-train in all areas of the Anatomic Pathology section and demonstrate competency.
• Must have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Receives, examines and processes Pathology specimens.
• Performs waived and moderately complex tests as defined by CLIA ’88.
• Under general supervision, performs duties in grossing as directed by a Certified Pathologist Assistant.
• Maintains quality control and quality assurance systems and procedure manuals.
• Provides overview support for the Anatomic pathology section in supervisor’s absence.
