Job summary

Methodist Midlothian Medical Center in Midlothian, TX seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide ABG, PFT, and ventilator support for adults and neonates. Work nights 12X3, with rotating weekends. Requires ARCP program grad, NBRC registered, Texas license, BLS/ACLS, and must obtain NRP/ Pediatric ALS within 1 year.

Responsibilities include arterial blood gas analysis, bronchodilator therapy, chest physiotherapy, and patient assessments. NICU experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification required.
• NRP and Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience.
• NICU experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, and airway maintenance.
• Performs cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures such as ABG, pulse oximetry, and PFTs.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation with bedside assessment and chart review.
• Uses critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient information.
• Assembles and troubleshoots ventilators, oxygen equipment, and blood gas analyzers.
• Engages in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Cleans and maintains cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
• Uses customer scripting to enhance patient satisfaction.
• Performs additional duties as required.

Skills

6 months experience

NICU experience preferred

Education

Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program

Basic Life Support certification
