Job summary

North Central West Virginia Community Action Association is seeking a dedicated individual to maintain security and confidentiality at our shelter. The role involves intervening in conflicts, documenting daily activities, and ensuring smooth operations during the assigned night hours.

You will work with staff and volunteers to create a supportive community, meet residents’ needs, and may assist with basic cleaning and food tasks.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining documentation and records.
• Ability to intervene in conflict or crisis situations.
• Willingness to perform light cleaning and food-related duties as needed.
• Knowledge of shelter operations and resident support is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain security and confidentiality for the program.
• Intervene in conflict or crisis situations as needed.
• Document activities and ensure smooth shelter operation during assigned hours.
• Collaborate with staff and volunteers to support residents.
• Assist with general cleaning and food-related duties.
• Work night shifts from approximately 12am to 8am and cover other shifts when required.

Job description

This position must maintain the security and confidentiality needed for this type of specialized program. Must be able to intervene in conflict or crisis situations and is responsible for maintaining documentation, ensuring the smooth operation of the shelter during the assigned hours. Employee will work with other staff and volunteers to create a supportive community, helping to meet the needs of each resident. May include general cleaning and food responsibilities. Regular night shift required approx. 12am - 8am with ability to cover other shifts as needed.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee occasionally is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, and listen and communicate verbally and in written form. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Can walk up and down steps 4 or more times daily.

Licenses/Training/Certifications

Valid Driver's License. Must be able to obtain a Food Handlers and CPR/FA cards, and any other certifications that may be required for the position. *Some certifications are provided/paid for by employer.
