Job summary

Methodist Dallas Medical Center, part of Methodist Health System, is seeking a Full-time Night Registered Respiratory Therapist to join the team. This night position offers a $10K sign-on bonus.

The RRT will perform ABG, PFTs and ventilator support for adults and neonates, under indirect supervision, adhering to department policies. Candidates must be licensed and certified in respiratory care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support- must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Currently licensed by Texas Medical Board as Respiratory Care Practitioner.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory therapeutics including oxygen therapy and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Perform and report prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including ABG, pulse oximetry, PFTs, and ECG.
• Prepare a treatment evaluation with bedside assessment, patient interview and chart review.
• Use critical thinking to determine actions.
• Interpret CXR, ABG, and PFT results when reviewing patient data.
• Assemble, check, operate and troubleshoot CP equipment such as ventilators, oxygen analyzers and gas delivery devices.
• Participate in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Perform cleaning and maintenance of all CP equipment and work areas.
• Utilize patient scripting to improve satisfaction.
• Perform other duties as required.
