Job summary

Methodist Dallas Medical Center is seeking a full-time Day Registered Respiratory Therapist to join its team. The RRT will perform ABG, PFTs, ventilator support, oxygen and aerosol therapy, and airway maintenance under indirect supervision, providing care for adults and neonates according to policy.

Required are accredited program graduation, Texas license as Respiratory Care Practitioner, NBRC registration, BLS, ACLS, and within one year NRP/PALS.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support - must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Currently licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration, weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, incentive spirometry, airway maintenance and bronchial hygiene.
• Interprets arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies and ECGs.
• Prepares treatment evaluations with bedside assessment and chart review.
• Uses critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
• Interprets CXR, ABG and PFT data.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance.
• Cleans and maintains all equipment and work areas.
• Utilizes effective patient scripting to improve satisfaction.
• Performs other duties as required.
