As the Quality Assurance Technician, your essential functions will include but are not limited to:
- Ensuring that finished Ziegenfelder treats are ready for packaging by properly preparing raw material inputs, monitoring production processes, and inspecting final products to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Reviewing and documenting quality assurance processes and making recommendations for improvements.
- Manipulating a variety of stainless-steel hard pipes and flexible hosing to perform CIPs and batch processing.
- Participating in plant sanitation activities including floor scrubbing, drain cleaning, and other manual sanitation tasks.
- Participating in the environmental monitoring program by collecting samples of finished product, work in progress, on equipment, and around the facility.
- Reviewing and recording microbiological data and reporting concerns and findings to the Quality Manager.
- Using HMI to appropriately call ingredients for bulk processing and transfer of batches.
- Conducting production support activities including mix making, equipment cleaning, product quality testing/sampling, and completing the master sanitation schedule tasks.
- Verifying that finished products meet quality standards for color, taste, quantity, wrap, and Rainbow Array.
- Adhering to HACCP, GMP, SOP, and SSOP programs and ensuring all documentation complies with federal, state, local, and company policies.
- Performing chemistry testing to ensure product specifications.
- Troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and working cross-functionally with Production and Maintenance departments.
- Performing multiple quality checks, recording results in the data control system, and documenting batch records.
- Completing internal lab functions including environmental sampling and documentation.
- Conducting regular audits of documentation for compliance with applicable directives, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Over 1 year of experience within a food manufacturing facility preferred.
- Preference for candidates with a Food Science, Food Technology degree, or related fields; however, experience will be considered without a degree.
- Experience and training in Food Safety, HACCP, SQF, Sanitation (SSOP & GMP), and other food safety systems required. SQF certification is a plus.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Abilities
- Standing up to 12 hours per day.
- Moving and lifting objects up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Bending, twisting, reaching, and grasping actions.
- Good spatial awareness around manufacturing equipment.
