Job summary

Continental Print in Michigan is seeking a skilled press operator to manage offset printing tasks from paper selection to ink application. You will verify materials, operate the press, and ensure color accuracy while maintaining safety standards.

The ideal candidate has several years of press experience, can read job orders, adjust ink volume, and perform basic troubleshooting to keep production lines running smoothly. This role is on-site and requires physical ability to handle heavy materials.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; and 3–5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrates ability to read job orders and operating manuals; applies safety procedures and quality checks.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic printing issues and maintain press setup.

Responsibilities

• Verify size, color, and type of paper and color of ink from job order.
• Cleans inking rollers with solvent and replaces them in press.
• Adjusts controls to regulate volume of ink.
• Adjusts delivery tapes, and positions and locks form (type setup or plate) on bed or cylinder of press.
• Adjusts feed guides, grippers, and elevator, or hand-feeding press.
• Starts press and runs off proof sheet.
• Examines proof to determine off-level areas, variation in ink volume, register slippage, indications of offsetting, and color register.
• Adjusts press controls, inking fountains, and automatic feeders, and repacks cylinder with overlay to equalize off-level
• Registers forms and mixes colors.
• Makes overlay for half-tone shades.
