Job summary

AdventHealth in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, seeks a Pharmacy Technician on a StaffFlex contract for the overnight shift. You will support medication dispensing, sterile compounding, and inventory management while collaborating with nurses and pharmacists to ensure safe, accurate patient care.

This full-time role emphasizes adherence to USP standards (<795>, <797>, <800>) and operational excellence, with opportunities for growth and mentorship within a faith-based health system.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, problem‑solving, and customer service skills.
• Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changes as necessary.
• Ability to interact constructively with supervisors, peers, and external customers.
• Ability to follow direction from formal management personnel and work well under direct supervision of a pharmacist.
• Ability to identify, follow up, and resolve discrepancies.
• Ability to identify, mitigate, and assist in resolving pharmacy operational or program issues.
• Ability to keep accurate and complete records.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Leads or contributes to compliance audits, documentation, and medication-use process improvement initiatives.
• Prepares reports, assists with compliance documentation, and supports operational accountability, transparency, and readiness for regulatory inspections and accreditation surveys.
• Collaborates with pharmacy staff, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and ensure continuity of pharmacy services across shifts and areas.
• Mentors technicians and supports onboarding, competency validation, and peer development.
• Executes advanced pharmacy technician duties with autonomy and precision across core workflows, hospital systems, and programs.
• Demonstrates expertise in medication dispensing, preparation, inventory management, sterile compounding, and regulatory compliance.
