Job summary

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is hiring a Patient Safety Companion (PSC) for the Systemwide Float Pool. This part-time role offers 24 hours per week, 11:00 PM–7:00 AM, within a systemwide nursing team dedicated to safe patient observation and care.

The PSC will provide constant observation for patients at risk for suicide, falls, or aggression, under RN supervision, and will support a culture of safety and quality across the facility.

• Ability to adapt to change and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Understanding the need for patient distress assistance.

Responsibilities

• Provide constant one-to-one observation of high-risk patients.
• Follow RN direction and system Float Pool protocols.
• Document safety checks and patient observations accurately.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct at all times.
• Assist in testing or observation needs as required.
