Job summary

The City of Providence is seeking a Parking Enforcement Officer to support the Police Department’s Traffic Bureau, Uniform Division. You will issue citations for parking violations, observe hazards, and report issues to the commanding officer.

The role includes overnight or day shifts as scheduled and requires reliable attendance. Qualifications include a high school diploma, a valid Rhode Island driver’s license, and the ability to work in varied weather.

Qualifications

• Ability to spell and write legibly.
• Must possess and maintain a valid State Driver’s License.
• Ability to communicate effectively and courteously.
• Must be physically fit to perform duties and carry equipment.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned post and enforces parking violations.
• Observes and reports hazardous conditions to Commanding Officer or designee.
• Enforces traffic regulations related to parking violations and related infractions.
• Operates ticket writing equipment and radio.
• Familiarity with city streets, buildings, and fire alarm boxes in the Central Business District.
• Notifies Commanding Officer of damaged meters or signs.
• Performs other related duties as required.
