Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine in New York seeks a Nursing House-Wide Supervisor for night shift to supervise off‑shift clinical staff and serve as on‑site Administrator‑On‑Duty (AOD), guiding safety and smooth operation of all clinical services.

You will mentor nursing, social work and counseling staff, plan staffing, evaluate performance, lead training and quality initiatives, and collaborate with physicians and administrators to maintain compassionate, patient‑centered care.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Licensed and currently registered to practice professional nursing in New York State.
• BSN degree or five years of acute care nursing experience.
• Progressive leadership experience in an acute care facility for at least two years.
• ACLS certification within six months of employment.
• Strong supervisory and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise off-shift nursing, social work, and counseling staff.
• Plan and manage staffing schedules with appropriate skill mix.
• Evaluate staff performance and conduct reviews.
• Mentor and provide ongoing education to staff.
• Ensure clinical care aligns with standards and protocols.
• Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
• Facilitate communication among patients, families, and staff.
• Contribute to patient care planning and behavior support plans.
• Document patient care and staff activities; participate in QA and regulatory initiatives.
• Coordinate with hospital administration and other professionals.
• Ensure policy adherence and collaboration across teams.
