Job summary

Downtown Emergency Services Center (DESC) is seeking a Milieu Counselor for Clover Place in Seattle. The role focuses on creating a safe, therapeutic, and welcoming environment for residents, with on-site 24/7 services and supportive housing for adults experiencing chronic homelessness.

The Milieu Counselor engages residents, supports housing stability, and collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to promote well-being and community.

Qualifications

• Ability to meet WA DOH AAC registration requirements.
• Understanding homelessness and related adult population.
• Ability to communicate with staff from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work with residents with challenging behaviors.
• Commitment to cooperation and respect across programs.

Responsibilities

• Participate in shift briefs and read logs before the start of each shift daily.
• Provide front desk coverage when needed.
• Distribute client medication and serve food on shift.
• Engage residents to foster a healthy milieu and community.
• Maintain safety by monitoring access and enforcing rules.
• Document in housing service notes and UECL in Chasers.
• Assist with unit turnovers, leasing and inspections.
• Respond to emergencies using de-escalation skills and coordinate with responders.
