Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System seeks a supplemental Medical Technologist or MLT to support the Alvin Freestanding ER on nights. The schedule consists of 12-hour night shifts and responsibilities include performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures with accuracy and reliability.

Candidates must hold ASCP/AMT MLS or ASCP/AMT MLT credentials, or be eligible for certification. A Bachelor’s degree in biological science is required, with equivalency for foreign education considered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biological science (equivalency required for foreign education).
• Licenses/certifications: MT MLS/MLT ASCP or AMT.
• ASCP/AMT certification eligibility considered.

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents test results, quality control, maintenance procedures and associated corrective actions.
• Manages daily lab operations including collections, sample processing, results reporting and clerical duties.
• Interacts with hospital personnel, physicians and patients regarding specimens and results.
• Complies with policies and standards set by regulatory agencies (CLIA, FDA, CAP, AABB, CMS, etc.).
• Promotes safety, cost efficiency and quality patient care; supports PI processes.
• Acts as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
• Maintains Memorial Hermann service standards with safe, caring experiences.
